One of the most difficult parts about life, particularly when you’re growing up, is realizing that you’re different. But once you realize that and embrace it, it can be one of the most rewarding parts, too.
From an early age, Reggie Wells knew he was different.
He was born in the 1940s and grew up black in a mostly white town. He also realized from an early age that he was gay.
But he used those experiences to grow, and today he is the make-up artist to the stars, including serving as Oprah Winfrey’s top make-up artist for the past 21 years.
He says his life story is living proof that you can rise against anything that gets in your way.
Reggie describes what it was like to grow up as a young, gay, black boy and how the insults and slurs actually helped him recognize who and what he was. Rather than bringing him down, they actually set him free.
Find out how Oprah helped him grow and flourish in his personal and professional lives, and about his new line of products, Hissy Fit cosmetics.
