Many view the time from 1920s to the 1950s as the Golden Age of Radio, but Jim Rentz sees that time as now. He’s the president of a club that works to preserve the radio and the tapes of all old shows and he’s not giving into iPods just yet!
Rentz formed the Old Time Radio Club in The Villages after receiving a donation of tapes. He’s working to turn the clock back to the Golden Age of Radio and hopes to preserve what boomers know best about music.
The club is bringing together many members that like to remember their days as children when the radio shows were so prominent. To Rentz, the old shows bring back memories for many boomers.
He talks with Growing Bolder about what those radio shows mean to him and if he’ll ever convert to the digital age.
