Too often, aging people or those living with disabilities need to give up their independence and move into an assisted living facility. What if that assistance was available in their homes?

Growing Bolder was thrilled to help kick off the new Thriving in Place program in the community of Celebration, Florida. See how the program is helping members of the community maintain their independence while keeping them socially engaged with their neighbors. The Thriving in Place volunteers help with everything from chores to repairs to rides to doctors appointments to friendship.

Perhaps most important of all, it’s bringing the community’s elders out of the shadows and re-engaging them into the community’s lifestyle, benefiting both the individuals and the community as a whole.
