In 2011, Growing Bolder’s Bill Shafer told the world about a 64-year-old woman named Quin Bommelje who never danced a step in her life until she began taking lessons at age 60:
In 2017, she opened the BOLDYS®, along with her dance partner Misha, stunning the audience at Growing Bolder’s annual awards show:

Then in 2018, a month away from her 71st birthday, she was on national TV auditioning for America’s Got Talent. How did she do? Nailed it!

By all accounts, Quin Bommelje — who is just 4 feet, 11 inches tall — was so bad when she first started, her teacher and even her husband couldn’t bear to watch. She had a hard time to keeping time to the beat.
But the unanimous support from the AGT judges proves that Quin’s got talent, and so the takeaway is: find something you love and go after it.
And here’s an exciting update: in late July, Quin and her partner received the AGT “Golden Buzzer,” after bringing the judges to tears. The Golden Buzzer means that the dancing duo goes immediately through to the live rounds at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. Stay tuned!
