Mickey Carroll has quite a unique approach to music these days. Back in the 1950s, when he released his first record, being a star was all about ego. And he had reasons to have an ego. He was one half of the doo-wop duo Billy and Mickey, the first white duo to be played on black radio.

Then, he wrote a song for the group The Whispers, which rose to No. 1 on the R&B charts, went gold and was nominated for a Grammy. if that wasn’t enough, he was also the first artist to record an album at sea, working with some of the top musicians and Elvis Presley’s former producer.
