In a time when bands like Pink Floyd, The Beatles and The Who were releasing concept albums, only one band was able to to take theirs to the top of the charts.

And their version of a concept album not only started out as a spoof but it only contained one, long song.

The band was Jethro Tull and the album was “Thick As a Brick.” The band hasn’t performed it live in its entirety in 40 years, but now is your chance to catch it again.

Original leader and flautist Ian Anderson is on the road again, performing a grueling two-hour show of “Thick As a Brick,” and he’s even written the sequel.

Ian explains why he thinks his continuous touring is much better for his health than retiring to fish.

Find out the main difference between life on the road these days and life on the road in the 1960s and 1970s and why he thinks it’s fun to serve as the tour manager, from booking the flights to finding the hotels.

Plus, the 65-year-old says he hopes his examples inspires others of the importance of staying physically and mentally engaged as they age.

“It’s a way of reminding people as they get older that they shouldn’t wait for that retirement slow death,” Ian tells Growing Bolder. “Do new things. Get motivated. Find a new hobby, activity or career. We don’t have to lie down and go to sleep just because we’re old folks.”
