As a teenager, Melody Moezzi seemed to completely go off the deep end. She went down a deep, dark rabbit hole that nearly destroyed her.

But not only did she emerge on the other side, she has bravely opened her life, the highs and the lows, to try to enlighten us all on how to deal with mental illness.

She is an attorney, a UN Global expert, a television commentator, a newspaper columnist and the author of the new book, “Haldol and Hyacinth: A Bipolar Life.”

Melody explains the painful and confusing 10-year journey to her bipolar diagnosis and why for so long she just thought she was a normal, depressed teenager.

She also offers advice for those who suddenly become nervous about how to act or don’t know what to say to a friend or loved one diagnosed with a mental illness.

Melody also believes her mental illness allows her brain to go places where others’ brains can’t go. She talks about the beautiful and valuable parts her “neurodiversity.”
