Doug Ulman is one of the world’s leading advocates for cancer survivors. He’s not only one of the world’s top nonprofit executives, he’s been called the most savvy healthcare leader in social media. His more 1.1 million Twitter followers underscore that fact.
He’s the CEO of LIVESTRONG, and under his leadership, the foundation has been transformed into an internationally known brand and a global leader in the movement to help those diagnosed with cancer.
Doug is also a three-time cancer survivor. He was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer when he was 19 years old, and within a year of that, he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma twice.
He also was Growing Bolder Founder and CEO Marc Middleton’s tentmate on the Survivor Summit journey to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The mission: to end a message of hope and inspiration to cancer survivors everywhere.
Doug discusses the expedition and explains why it was not only a life-changing experience but one that he knew he needed to do to continue challenging himself.
Find out what Livestrong tries to do to help cancer survivors and their families and how the mission keeps evolving.
Doug explains why he believes setting goals that seem unachievable are not only important for those with cancer but for all of us.
