Bryon Powell was living in Washington, D.C., working as a successful food and drug attorney but something was missing from his life.

He struggled to find the time to do the one thing he was truly passionate about — running long distances.

He decided to take a chance. He quit his job, sold his apartment and moved across the country to Yosemite.

Bryon was hooked on ultramarathon, often taking on runs that were 30, 40, 75 and even 100 miles long. The more he ran, the more he liked it.

He also found that he loved the ultramarathon community. He loved interacting with others passionate about the sport. He started talking to them, interviewing them and writing about them.

He’s gathered all the information he learned in his new book, “Relentless Forward Progress: A Guide to Running Ultramarathons.”

Bryon explains how someone goes from casually enjoying running to craving it. He said he enjoyed finding out how far he could push his body.

Bryon gives his tips for people interested in taking on long runs, and he says the lessons he’s learned apply to any area of life you want to explore.

Plus, find out why he believes ultramarathoning is one of the fastest growing sports.
