Carl Reiner has had a hand in shaping the face of comedy in this country since World War II where he entertained fellow troops. After the war, he turned to Broadway where he performed in several musicals. That led him to television where as a performer and writer on Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows he met writer Mel Brooks and the two formed a bond that exists to this day.

Reiner created the Dick Van Dyke Show and produced the hit movies, Oh, God and The Jerk. Now, at the age of 95, he has become fascinated by longevity, not just his but that of friends like Brooks, 91, Van Dyke, 91, Norman Lear, 95, Tony Bennett, 91, and Kirk Douglas, 100.

Reiner explores the topic in several books, including his latest Too Busy to Die, and in the recent HBO documentary If You’re Not in the Obits, Eat Breakfast. He was anxious to share his thoughts with Marc Middleton and Bill Shafer on the Growing Bolder Radio Show.
