Dave Hackett is one of the innovators and pioneers of professional skateboarding. He’s a former World and U.S. Open champion and has been featured in just about every important book and movie ever made about skateboarding. Now in his 50s, he’s still skating professionally.

As cool as all of that is, it doesn’t to begin to describe the depth and breadth of this entrepreneurial guy. He’s also a life coach with his own consulting company, a fine artist whose paintings are prized by collectors worldwide, a recovery expert and a commercial graphic designer.

Dave talks about why he’s so passionate still about skateboarding and why it’s such a beautiful and physically powerful sport. And it’s a passion he’s grown up with. In 2006, at the age of 46, he shocked the world by becoming the oldest skateboarder to do Tony Hawk’s infamous loop of death trick. He takes us back to that day and why even earlier in that same day he never planned on doing it.
