Three million men in the U.S. are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, yet more and more physicians are saying prostate screenings and sometimes even treatment are unnecessary. It’s left families confused and unsure about how they should handle this major health concern.

Let’s clear things up with Virgil Dawson, M.D., of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, who is board-certified in family medicine. Dr. Dawson offers advice for wading through the conflicting recommendations from major healthcare groups.

He explains what makes this such a confusing issues for both patients and physicians and breaks down the changing thinking on diagnosing and treating prostate cancer. And are there any symptoms to keep an eye on? And what if you have a family history of prostate cancer? Dr. Dawson explains.
