Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn is a Nobel Prize-winning scientist who offers startling proof that how we think about about aging affects the way we age.

Dr. Blackburn has been named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people. She is the president of the Salk Institute and past president of the American Association for Cancer Research.

In 2009, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discovering the molecular nature of telomeres, the ends of chromosomes that preserve genetic information. She was also honored for co-discovering the enzymes that maintains telomere ends. It’s a discovery that has already had tremendous implications for cancer and aging research.

In her new book, The Telomere Effect, she explains how to slow the way we age at a fundamental level.

She talks to Growing Bolder about her revolutionary and pioneering work and shares some habits you can adopt into your everyday life to impact your body’s telomeres.
