Growing Bolder is not about age — it’s about attitude. It’s about overcoming obstacles and emerging better, stronger and more empowered. That’s why we’re so inspired by U.S. Olympic track and field athlete DeeDee Trotter, who is setting her sights on another gold medal at the 2016 Games. If she makes it, she’ll be in an elite class of athletes — and one of the only women to compete in the daunting 400m event in four different Games (she won gold in the 4 x 400m relay in 2004 and 2012 and bronze in the 400m individual event in 2012; she competed but did not qualify for the 2008 400m finals due to a severe knee injury).
In a sport in which most athletes peak in their 20s, Trotter is facing some steep challenges. She’ll be 33 in 2016 and underwent intense rehab after her knee injury. But she’s a dreamer and says she’ll never give up. We recently spoke with Trotter on the Growing Bolder TV Show and she shared the message that keeps her moving.
