She was a network news anchor for more than 25 years, and now Jane Pauley is back on her old show to tell the stories of people reinventing their lives.

The Emmy Award-winning journalist is the new ambassador for AARP’s Your Life Calling, and each month, she brings these stories to NBC’s The Today Show.

Jane says the Boomer generation is the first one to know that longer, healthier lives are not only a possibility but a reality. She said since that knowledge gives Boomers a chance to plan better for longer lives, she wants to help plant ideas for more productive and meaningful lives.  

Jane also opens up about her revelation that she suffers from bipolar disorder. She first went public with her mental illness in her autobiography, “Skywriting: A Life Out of the Blue,” and Jane says as soon as she was diagnosed at the age of 50, she knew she’d share her story.

Even though she had always led a private life, she immediately knew that she would and should leverage her celebrity to help other people with mental illness.

She says we all have stories to help other people, hers just happened to be mental illness.
