With teammates 30 years his junior, John Wilson could have felt defeated, but instead he became the oldest college baseball player in history.

For Wilson, at 53, putting on a college uniform and graduating college was a goal he wasn’t too old to accomplish. But his journey to that point wasn’t easy, he says.

Wilson battled a drug and alcohol addiction and said that it was necessary to finally go to rehab at age 32 to get to where he is today.

He talks with Growing Bolder about his struggles on and off the baseball field and his plans after graduation.
