Julie Andrews is one of the most beloved movie musical stars of all time. She’s the star of classics like “Mary Poppins,” “The Sound of Music,” “Victor Victoria,” and “The Princess Diaries.”

When her famous voice was silenced after a failed surgery, many wondered what she’d do next.

There should have been no surprises that she’d come up with something. She’s found a compelling way to combine her acting and musical talents to keep the art of storytelling alive through children’s books.

Her latest book, co-written with her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton, is called “The Very Fairy Princess Follows Her Heart,” and it debuted at No. 9 on the New York Times’ bestseller list and quickly jumped to No. 2.

Julie says writing is her life’s great passion now and it’s a learning curve that never stops.

She has been writing for more than 40 years, ever since her new stepdaughter asked her to write her a story. Rather than just jotting something down, Julie tells us she put a lot of time and thought into it and the result was the young adult book “Mandy,” which has now been in print for more than 40 years.

Over the last 15 years, Julie and her daughter, Emma, have written nearly 30 books together, including the wildly popular “The Very Fairy Princess” series.

Julie explains why they decided to write books with a princess as the heroine and how her protagonist, Geraldine, is the antithesis of of all the other princesses in the old fairy tales.

Find out how her surgery affected her entire life and how she learned to use her voice in different ways. And she reveals what her one great passion is these days.

To learn more about all of Julie’s books, including “The Very Fairy Princess” series and the bestselling Julie Andrews’ Collection of Poems, Songs and Lullabies, visit julieandrewscollection.com.
