With all due respect to F. Scott Fitzgerald, the Gatlin Brothers are proving that there are second acts in American life. After 17 years of retirement, they are back, and the popular country artists aren’t just out to recreate their glory days, they’re in the studio putting the finishing touches on a new album and getting ready to head out on tour.

This time around, Larry says, they’re going to enjoy every minute. “We’ve learned some very important lessons — booze and drugs are old school! Now, we all just want to do right, don’t be crazy and have a great time with our fresh new start.”

The Gatlin Brothers made their first appearance on the 1976 release “Larry Gatlin with Family & Friends.” In 1978, Larry says it became obvious that his brothers wanted to become country performers, which was fine with him.
