Did you know that many of the pioneers that created the foundation that NASCAR was built upon are still around?
Many are wonderful treasures from an incredible time in the history of motor sports, and many have wonderful stories to tell. In many cases they have been forgotten, overshadowed by the superstars of the day.
But their memories and recollections are entertaining and invaluable. That’s why the legendary engine builder and former owner Ray Fox lent his support and guidance to the formation of a one-of-a-kind collection of racing memorabilia and actual participants as well!
Ray became a car owner in 1962 and in eight seasons his cars won 18 poles and 14 races in 172 starts. He was so unstoppable that in 1963 alone, the Ford Motor Company spent over 1 million dollars trying to catch Ray’s No. 3 white Chevy. Over the next few years Buck Baker, Buddy Baker, Earl Balmer, Fred Lorenzen, Cale Yarborough, Marvin Panch, Fireball Roberts and LeeRoy Yarborough drove Ray’s cars.
The Museum exists thanks to the incredible efforts of Ray Fox, it’s dedicated volunteers, caring fans and people determined not to let the roots of racing go unnoticed and unappreciated. It’s their work, reputation and concern for racing pioneeers that draws people from all over the nation. It’s what makes the Living Legends of Racing Museum the most unique, unsung and important racing museums in the world.
