Martin Tahse is a groundbreaking producer of children’s television programming. His ABC Afterschool Specials not only won awards, they tackled themes previously avoided in shows aimed at teens. His handling of sensitive issues showed that children and parents were interested in far more than just comedy.

Tahse says he believes one of the most amazing shows in television history was “Kukla, Fran and Ollie.” It was five unscripted one-hour shows a week featuring Fran Allison and as many as twelve puppets all operated and voiced by the great Burr Tillstrom.

The show ran from 1947 to 1957 and was watched by more adults than children. It attracted the loyalty of the first generation of television watchers and stuck in their minds for a lifetime.

Now, Tahse has made it his life’s mission to preserve and expose the show to as many people as possible.
