Seventy-five years ago, a young Cornell and Harvard-educated physician with a passion for engineering relocated from the cold northeast to sunny Florida to help ease his symptoms of arthritis.

The practice that he opened and fostered over his lifetime would change a community forever.

Dr. Eugene Jewett and his wife, Dr. Ruth Jewett, immediately set to work helping the injured and sick members of their community. And he never stopped innovating, from aboard the ship USS Samaritan during World War II to his offices back in Florida.
