And if you think it’s too late to do that, wait until you meet Millicent Gappell, who didn’t do it until she was in her 70s.

In her life, she’s been an accomplished concert pianist who studied and taught the philosophy of music and how it is experienced. At the same time, she became a pioneer in the field of psychoneuroimmunology researching the mind-body connection. Her work in that field led to her being a featured member of the faculty of UCLA.

All of those experiences influence her artwork today and she has found a way to put them all together to create like she never had before.

Millicent is now a master glass artist who creates museum-quality work. She has a particular fascination with Greco-Roman myths, which she explores in her new book, “The Art of Myths and Music.”

She beautifully describes for us one of her recent series Goddesses of Glass and Light.

She also describes her process, which involves smashing glass and painting with shards of glass.

As a former concert pianist, who used to protect her hands, she says she is now having fun with something a little dangerous.

Just before celebrating her 80th birthday, Millicent explains show she’s still finding herself and discovering who she is. Her mother recently died at the age of 110, so she thinks she has plenty of time to create new art and keep growing and evolving as a person.

Plus, she explains her fascination with the Greek Gods and how people like the Clintons and Schwarzeneggers are proof that the old Gods are still alive.
