When Neil Gussman broke his neck, shoulder, nose, collarbone and ribs, he didn’t just sit around in a heap of regret.

He got back on his bike and rode down the same hill where his accident occurred.

That earned him the Masters Athlete Comeback Athlete of the Year Award.

Gussman, 55, didn’t waste anytime getting back on his bike after his horrific accident.

Three months after he broke almost ten bones, he decided to take another chance.

Perseverance has always been a part of Gussman’s life. He is a chemical weapons expert and after 23 years, he’s re-enlisted in the National Guard.

Gussman talks to Growing Bolder about his decision to go back into the Guard and how he continues to stand after so many obstacles in his way.
