At the age of 36, she was indistinguishable from anyone else. She had a decent job, a comfortable home, and a little red sports car. But she couldn’t get over the feeling that something very important was missing. So she sat down and wrote two versions of her own obituary, one about the ordinary life she was leading, the other about the life she wished she could lead.

She always admired adventurers, risk-takers who welcomed life’s challenges and the wonders that go with it; people who didn’t judge themselves by success and failure, but by experience and intent. She admired people with the guts to live each day to the fullest.

Roz made the decision right then and there to change her life. She didn’t just flip a switch, but slowly, one by one, she shed the trappings of who she was. Little by little, she shed the possessions that used to define her, but also limited her. She pared down to the basics to find out what really mattered.

As she stripped more and more material things away, her destiny began to take shape and become clearer and clearer. Five years later, Roz Savage rowed across the Atlantic all alone. And now she’s taking on the Pacific.
