You know him from his beloved roles on shows like “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Love Boat,” but you don’t know the real story behind actor Gavin MacLeod’s success.

In a very revealing interview, he opens up to Growing Bolder about his battles with addiction and depression and takes us back to the night when he nearly ended it all with a suicide attempt. He explains why it was his role on “McHale’s Navy” and something his friend Ted Knight said to him that led him to that dark place.
