It’s easy to look at a celebrity and envy their lives. Many of us look at the people we see in the movies and TV or hear on the radio and assume everything is easy for them. Here’s a newsflash: we are all people and everybody has struggles.

Beloved singer Toni Tennille is putting those struggles right in the forefront for everyone to see. She’s someone who grew up thinking love would keep her marriage together as she and her husband released hit record after hit record. In the 1970s and ’80s, everyone wanted to be part of the dynamic duo of The Captain and Tennille, but things aren’t always as they seem.

Toni has just written a book about courage, strength and ultimate triumph that brings it all to light. In Toni Tennille: A Memoir, she looks back on their 40 years together and describes what led to divorce in their 70s.

Even though she knows the news of their divorce devastated many of their long-time fans, she also says her book has encouraged so many other women to share their stories with her, explaining how they made it through similar situations.

She looks back on the many gifts she received and lessons she learned as a part of her marriage and their working relationship and offers advice for others who may be living through their own trials. She also shares the touching conversation she and her ex-husband had after her recent appearance on the Today show.
