Here’s a radical thought — the Boomers, not the World War II generation, may actually be the nation’s Greatest Generation.

That’s the premise of Professor Leonard Steinhorn, who credits the Boomers with improving civil rights, women’s rights and rights for the elderly in his new book, “The Greater Generation: In Defense of the Baby Boom Legacy.”

He talked to Growing Bolder about why he thinks our generation’s legacy may be much more lasting than most anticipate.

Steinhorn is a professor of communications at American University in Washington, D.C., where he teaches politics, media and American culture.

He is a former political speechwriter and co-author of “By the Color of Our Skin,” a critically acclaimed book on race relations.
