The suicides of chef Anthony Bourdain and fashion designer Kate Spade were national wake-up calls. Bourdain and Spade are just two of the 800,000 people who die by suicide every year.

Margaret Trudeau, the former First Lady of Canada and a mental health care advocate, reminds us that mental illness is not something we can overcome on our own. She spoke with Growing Bolder about her mission to make a difference.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress: 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
